Pulpit Supply (Synod-Authorized Ministry)

These people are available for synod-authorized ministry and can provide pulpit supply to congregations of the Central/Southern Illinois Synod. These individuals are authorized to serve solely at the discretion of the synod bishop and are not on the roster of the ELCA. These individuals may only preside at Holy Communion and Holy Baptism or officiate at weddings and funerals with the written permission of the bishop. They are not authorized to provide counseling through the SAM program. Honoraria and reimbursement are the same as that for rostered pulpit supply.

To request authorization to perform the sacraments or preside at a wedding or funeral, the congregation must send a written request to Jennie Ruth (jennie.ruth@csis-elca.org) at the synod office with the name of the person for whom it is requesting authorization, the date(s), and the location. Please make the request as soon as possible and at least two weeks in advance.
