In the Model Constitution for Congregations, the ELCA urges the establishment of a Mutual Ministry Committee, in which the pastor and appointed members shepherd ministry goals, confidentially discuss perceptions and concerns within the faith community, and work together to resolve conflicts honestly and compassionately for the sake of the gospel.
The primary resource is “Pastor and People: Making Mutual Ministry Work,” part of the Congregational LEADER Series by Augsburg Fortress. Purchasing copies for your attendees is highly recommended.
