Ministry Highlight: SIU Welcome Back Ministries

August was a very satisfying and busy time for campus ministry at Southern Illinois University Carbondale! Members of Epiphany, Carbondale, collected houseware basics and winter gear for international students. Pastor Brian Coffey attended an international student open house and visited with students at an on-campus breakfast. Members of the Evangelism Committee joined pastor and the director of Wesley Foundation to co-host a “Taste of Carbondale” event for the second year in a row supported by a Thrivent Action Team grant. Pastor Brian led Holy Communion at the first Wesley Foundation student worship service, and along with volunteers from Epiphany and the American Baptist House, served s’mores at a lakeside concert on a hot and humid summer night! On September 6, SIU Campus Ministries (an interfaith ministry) will purchase and deliver food for the weekly International Student Coffee.
