The ELCA Region 5 synods will hold their joint annual boundaries education workshop from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 6. The workshop will be held at two locations: First English Lutheran Church in Peoria and Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Mount Vernon.
The registration fee is $25 — the total value of the day’s training is $100 per person; we ask you to help cover the cost of lunch, and the synod will cover the balance to Region 5. Please register ahead so we can plan for lunch.
This year’s mandatory boundaries education course is on gender justice and will be led in a hybrid format by Mary J. Streufert, ELCA Director for Justice for Women. Our time together will focus on how gender injustice manifests itself in the ELCA, how ELCA social statements can serve as a resource in our gender justice work, and how we can begin the work to change the narrative in order to live out gender justice in our work and world.
This workshop is REQUIRED for ALL rostered ministers and synod-authorized ministers. Those unable to attend must contact Bishop Greg Busboom at the synod office (217-753-7915) as soon as possible to discuss the matter.
