2024 Synod Assembly

The 2024 Central/Southern Illinois Synod Assembly will be held on June 6-8 (Thursday-Saturday) at the Decatur Conference Center and Hotel in Decatur. Registration is open now.

The assembly gathers this year to elect a new vice president; elect nominees to open positions; elect voting members to the 2025 Churchwide Assembly; approve the synod’s 2025 budget; and receive reports from committees, agencies, and the churchwide organization.

Sign-in begins at 12:00 PM on Thursday, June 6; a voting member orientation session will be held at 1:30 PM for first-time voters and anyone who desires a refresher.

The registration deadline is April 15. Registrations between April 15 and May 15 will incur a $25-per-person late fee. In the event that a registered voting member is unable to participate, they may be replaced by contacting the synod office as soon as possible.

Bible Studies

Three plenary interactive Bible studies will be led by:

  • Rachel Wind, Executive for Development, Office of the Presiding Bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America
  • Deacon Jason Fisher, Director for Evangelical Mission of the Central/Southern Illinois Synod
  • The Rev. Amy Ziettlow, Assistant to the Bishop for Transformational Leadership of the Central/Southern Illinois Synod

Breakout “Spirit Labs”

All assembly participants will be invited to share in breakout sessions to engage more deeply in the emerging results of our synod-wide strategic listening and visioning process. We will test our mission, vision, values, and emerging strategic priorities. Clyde Walters, one of our consultants with GSB, will be on site to lead us in this process.

Festival Worship

Our festival worship service will be Thursday, June 6, at 8:00 PM at Central Christian Church, 650 West William Street, Decatur, with Bishop Greg G. Busboom preaching and presiding. The worship offering is designated for ministries of our companion synods in the Malagasy Lutheran Church in Madagascar.

Festival worship is open to all regardless of registration for Synod Assembly and will be livestreamed at YouTube.com/@csiselca.

Celebration BBQ & Hymn Fest

The Friday evening fellowship event will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 3778 North Water Street, Decatur, including a catered barbecue dinner with all the fixings. All registered for Synod Assembly are invited and encouraged to attend ($25 per person) so we can eat and enjoy one another’s company as one church and siblings in Christ.

Friday Lunch

Lunch will be provided on Friday, June 7, and is included in your registration. Please be sure to select your lunch option on the registration form.
