The Rev. Dr. William E. Lesher, who served as president of the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago (LSTC) from 1978-1997, died on January 23 at the age of 85. He was the seminary’s longest-serving president and is remembered here for his leadership in bringing about an ecumenical, global, and multicultural vision for theological education during his presidency. Rev. Dr. Lesher is survived by his wife of 60 years, A. Jean Olson Lesher; their sons, David and Gregory; and three grandchildren.
You are invited to a memorial service at LSTC on Thursday, March 15, at 3 pm in the Augustana Chapel. A reception will follow in the Refectory and will allow time for sharing stories of Rev. Dr. Lesher’s life and ministry.
