St. John’s Lutheran Church of Sibley participated with two Action teams from Thrivent Financial during August and September. We were blessed to receive $250 for each project. One was for paint and supplies and one for groceries.

Bishop on Sabbatical

John Roth, Bishop of the C/SIS, is to be on sabbatical from October 7th, 2018 to January 6th, 2019.  He will be exploring the way ELCA synods and bishops gauge and respond to challenges the church faces--whether with technical or adaptive "fixes," and which are appropriate for various circumstances.

Pedal for a Purpose

First off, thank you all for your generous support to our Pedal for a Purpose efforts over the last five years. Together, we have biked thousands of miles, brought congregations together, strengthened community, celebrated our shared ministry, and raised over $150,000 for Lutheran Social Services of Illinois, Illinois campus ministries, our companion synods in Madagascar, and assisting pastors new to our synod with their seminary debt.
