We know that the generosity we experience is a reflection of God’s abundance and generosity – and generosity is inspiring! As a follow up to generosity quotes from the Synod Assembly in June, the C/SIS Mission Support and Stewardship Education Committee is gathering stories, quotes, and insights about generosity so we can share those out with you throughout the fall. We encourage you to have conversations about generosity with your council, church groups, and congregation as a whole and let us know what you heard!
You are invited to respond to any of these prompts. They can be your own thoughts, or reporting out what you heard in your congregation. If you would like to submit a generosity video or photo, please send those directly to communications@csis-elca.org. (See the “Tips for Shooting a Great Video” below the form.)
Tips for shooting a great video
- Choose a good location. Select a spot to record your video with good natural lighting or in well-lighted rooms to reduce shadows and dim recordings. Light should be shining on the subject from above/behind the camera. If there is a window behind the subject, close the curtains/shades.
- Record with your phone in horizontal orientation from 3-5 feet away. Try placing your phone on a music stand so it’s steady, and experiment sitting or standing to see what looks and feels best.
- Know what you want to say. Take some time to craft your message and practice a few times. You don’t have to read it word for word, but planning can be helpful to get the message across and to relive nerves when the camera is rolling.
