“Very truly, I tell you, the one who believes in me will also do the works that I do and, in fact, will do greater works than these, because I am going to the Father” John 14:12.
God called us together for a time of learning, conducting business, and celebration of our shared ministry. Our annual synod assembly was held June 5-7 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Bloomington, with the theme, “Carrying on in Christ’s Mission,” based on John 14:12.
Our festival worship service was held Thursday, June 5,at St. John’s with Bishop Greg Busboom preaching and presiding. The bishop and his staff were presented with custom-made red stoles crafted from strips of red fabric that had been sent from the synod’s communities of disciples to decorate the space for his installation. Enough fabric was left over to create a banner. We also recognized the rostered minsiters and communities of disciples celebrating anniversary milestones this year. The worship offering brought in more than $13,000 designated for ministries of our companion synods in the Malagasy Lutheran Church in Madagascar.
