TITLE: Director of Family Ministry
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Family Ministry provides leadership and support in developing programming to meet the needs of children, youth and families in the areas of fellowship, learning, and discipleship. This position requires a nurturing, caring individual with excellent relational skills and a strong ability to recruit and provide assistance to individuals interested in leading ministry for children, youth and their families.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Recruits, coaches and supports others in leading programs for preschoolers, elementary, middle and high school youth, which includes youth groups, Confirmation and Small Group Ministry aimed at families with youth.
- Recruits individuals to be part of Task Groups handling special events like, but not limited to, Vacation Bible School and First Communion training.
- Assists the Sunday School Commission with the organization and staffing of Sunday School.
- Provides Director of Communications with written information concerning all events and activities.
- Arranges for Task Groups to provide service projects for youth.
- Provides support to families in the congregation through phone calls, e-mail and personal visits.
- Maintains a personal prayer time devoted to family concerns.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Abiding faith in Jesus Christ and a desire to share the Good News.
- Nurturing, caring individual who relates well to children, youth, and their families.
- Preferred degree in Family Ministry or related field, or experience working with family units.
- Able to provide oversight, leadership and development to Small Groups.
- Willingness to continue educational opportunities provided by the congregation relating to the position.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Energetic and able to motivate others.
- Able to recruit, teach and coach others.
- Able to multi-task, meet deadlines and maintain composure under pressure.
- Knowledgeable in media technology.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Able to work well with others and within a team.
EMPLOYMENT STATUS AND BENEFITS:
- Full-time, salaried position.
- Salary based on 40-hour workweek.
